In a recent meeting, the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors approved several key initiatives and updates. A significant portion of the session focused on funding for transportation projects, with over $65 million allocated to various infrastructure improvements. Notably, $32.8 million will be used to widen Route 360 between Woodlake Village Parkway and Otterdale Road.

Additionally, amendments to the fiscal year 2026 budget were approved. These include reallocating nearly $460,000 in Parks and Recreation funding to Sportable for adaptive programming and allocating over $80,000 for regional overflow shelter efforts during extreme weather conditions.

The board also accepted three opioid abatement grants totaling $1.6 million from the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority. These funds will support collaborative projects aimed at addressing opioid misuse in partnership with neighboring localities.

Changes to business license taxes were discussed, resulting in increased gross receipts thresholds for tax years 2025 and 2026. The goal is to maintain eligibility for a flat $10 business license fee amid inflationary pressures.

The board endorsed a segment of the Powhite Parkway Extension for Central Virginia Transportation Authority regional funding and authorized staff to submit requests accordingly.

Other updates included awarding a construction contract for the Proctors Creek Control Building Expansion Project and selecting Physicians Correctional, USA, CORP to provide medical services at the county jail.
