Significantly more than 50 Chesterfield residents attended an event on Saturday, July 19, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rockwood Park. The county marked this milestone with a family-friendly event featuring music, activities, and nature and history programming.
Chesterfield Parks and Recreation collaborated with local ice cream shop Gelati Celesti to introduce a limited-edition ice cream flavor for the occasion. Named Rockwood Bark, this new flavor is now available in Gelati Celesti stores across Virginia.
WRIC Meteorologist Jacqueline Waters joined the community for educational and interactive nature experiences during the celebration. The event honored Rockwood Park’s role as a center for outdoor enjoyment and environmental education since its opening in 1975.
