Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual Fourth of July celebration on Friday, July 4, from 5 to 10 p.m. The event will be held at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds located at 10300 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.

The celebration offers a variety of activities including a kids zone, food vendors, live music by BrassWind, special entertainment, and fireworks. Attendees can find more information by visiting Chesterfield.gov/Fireworks.

BrassWind, a band made up entirely of retired and active-duty military personnel, will provide musical entertainment with two sets scheduled. A DJ will fill in during breaks. Food cravings can be satisfied with offerings from 17 local food vendors.

The kids zone operates from 5 to 8:30 p.m., featuring bounce houses, slides, roaming entertainers, and a mobile game truck for older children. Entry is $5 per child with various payment options available.

Guests are allowed to bring blankets, chairs, and coolers but must adhere to prohibited items such as alcohol, glass bottles, illegal weapons, personal fireworks, tents or canopies, and pets (except service dogs). All attendees and their belongings may be searched.

To stay informed about the event or receive emergency alerts, individuals can text CFIELD4TH to 888777. The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions unless severe weather necessitates seeking shelter as directed by staff.

Parking is accessible via Krause Road with designated lots at L.C. Bird High School (including handicap parking), Career and Technical Center – Courthouse Campus, O.B. Gates Elementary School, and additional county government complex lots as needed.

For safety reasons during the fireworks display after dark, vehicles parked in certain lots will not be able to exit until pedestrians have cleared Courthouse Road. It is expected that parking lot exits will reopen approximately 20 minutes after the fireworks conclude.

Vehicles exiting from county lots at Social Services or other nearby locations will do so via Lucy Corr Boulevard to Iron Bridge Road. Pedestrians returning to their cars will use Government Center Parkway or Krause Road; the latter being closed to vehicle traffic during this time.
