Chesterfield’s Constituent and Media Services Department has been acknowledged for its excellence in public information dissemination on various platforms. At the 78th Virginia Public Relations Awards, Chesterfield received a Commonwealth Award from the Richmond Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in the Multicultural Communications category. This recognition was for Café con la Comunidad, an event launched in 2024 to engage Chesterfield’s growing Spanish-speaking population.

This award marks Chesterfield’s first PRSA accolade. The Virginia PR Awards annually celebrate strategic impact, creativity, and results by communications professionals across various industries in the commonwealth.

For four consecutive years, staff from Constituent and Media Services have been honored at the Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). Photographer Mark Gormus achieved a Platinum Award for his portfolio capturing images throughout the county.

Chesterfield also secured a Gold Award for its 2024 State of the County presentation. This was delivered as a live recording of the Chesterfield Behind the Mic podcast, alongside weekly segments like Chesterfield News Minute and a video titled “Unlocking Harmony with the Chesterfield County Jail’s HARP program.”

Additionally, three entries received Honorable Mention: Experience Chesterfield map, a poster detailing the county’s strategic plan, and a video about automated external defibrillators saving lives in local parks.

The Hermes Creative Awards is one of the largest creative competitions globally. Winners vary from individuals to large media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies.

Dave Goode, director of Constituent and Media Services, remarked on his team’s accomplishments: “The communications team’s dedication to the work, desire to collaborate and learn, and commitment to raising the bar on creativity make them exceptional storytellers across the many formats we use to deliver public information,” adding that he is proud of their efforts and support from county leaders.
