City of Richmond announces closures for Labor Day holiday

City of Richmond offices will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day. City Hall and other city offices are scheduled to resume regular business hours on Tuesday, September 2.

The Department of Public Works announced that there will be no trash collection, recycling, or bulk and brush collection services on the holiday. All collections will be delayed by one day throughout the week, with regularly scheduled Monday pickups occurring on Tuesday and so forth through Friday, September 6. The East Richmond Road Convenience Center (ERRCC) Landfill at 3800 East Richmond Road will also close from Saturday, August 30 through Monday, September 1. It is set to reopen on Tuesday, September 3.

Richmond Public Libraries will not open on Monday but will return to their usual schedule starting Tuesday.

RVA311 customer service will operate on Saturday, August 30 but close for the holiday itself. Residents can still access self-service options anytime via RVA311.com and mobile apps.

Richmond Public Schools are observing a break both Friday, August 29 and Monday, September 1. Classes are expected to resume on Tuesday.

Parks and Recreation offices and community centers are also closed for the holiday. However, pools remain open from noon until 7:00 p.m.

The Department of Public Utilities Call Center is closed for Labor Day. Customers experiencing utility emergencies can call 646-4646 and select Option 1; gas leaks should be reported by leaving the area immediately and calling 911.

Richmond Animal Care and Control will not open on Monday but is available by appointment only on Tuesday before resuming regular hours Wednesday.
