Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, shared her views on various issues through a series of tweets on May 7, 2025. The topics ranged from celebrating National Nurses Day to providing information about REAL ID requirements.
In a tweet posted at 00:18 UTC, McClellan acknowledged National Nurses Day by highlighting “#ThePowerOfNurses” and their role in community upliftment and life-saving efforts. She expressed concern over “The Trump Administration’s funding cuts, hiring freezes and more,” which she believes have impacted nurses’ ability to perform their duties effectively, potentially jeopardizing hospital operations.
Later that day, at 17:28 UTC, McClellan addressed constituents who may not have a REAL ID. She encouraged those unsure about the requirements to contact her office for assistance or consult available resources for frequently asked questions.
In another tweet posted simultaneously at 17:28 UTC, she reminded Virginians of the new travel regulations requiring a REAL ID or an equivalent form of identification for air travel and access to military bases and certain federal buildings. She noted that Virginia driver’s licenses lacking a star are not compliant with REAL ID standards.
Jennifer McClellan has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after replacing Donald McEachin. Prior to her current role, she served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and in the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond and holds a JD from the University of Virginia.
