The following day, on May 15, she expressed pride in standing firm with fellow Democrats from the Energy and Commerce Committee for over a day. She stated, “I proudly held the line with my fellow @EnergyCommerce Democrats for 26.5 hours to defend our friends, family, neighbors, and constituents caught in the crosshairs of Republicans’ devastating budget cuts — the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.” The tweet emphasized her opposition to proposed budget reductions affecting Medicaid.

Later that same day, McClellan extended congratulations to recent graduates by tweeting “Congratulations to the @RBCStatesmen Class of 2025! “, acknowledging their achievements and milestones.

Jennifer McClellan is known for her extensive political career within Virginia before serving in Congress. She previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and later on the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg and currently residing in Richmond, McClellan holds degrees from both the University of Richmond and the University of Virginia School of Law.
