Delegate Kim Taylor has announced the allocation of over $1.4 million in GO Virginia grants to support workforce development programs in Virginia’s 82nd District. The funding includes $970,835 for expanding the Great Opportunities in Technology and Engineering Careers (GO TEC) program into Prince George County and $520,000 for launching an Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics certification program at Rowanty Technical Center.

Taylor expressed her support for these initiatives, stating, “I was proud to support these proposals because I know how critical it is to invest in skills-based education that prepares our students and workers for high-demand careers.” She added that the grants represent a significant achievement for the region, highlighting the importance of local partnerships.

The GO TEC expansion will be managed by the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) and aims to establish Career Connections Labs in Prince George County middle schools. These labs will introduce students to fields such as advanced manufacturing, information technology, bioscience, and logistics. Meanwhile, Rowanty Technical Center’s new program will offer certifications in OSHA10, forklift operation, and Smarta Automation to high school students from Dinwiddie, Prince George, and Sussex counties. Plans are also underway to extend these opportunities to adult learners and provide internships.

“These grants are more than just funding; they are a strategic investment in the future of Virginia’s workforce,” Taylor remarked. She emphasized her commitment to securing resources that benefit students and industries while promoting economic growth across the region.

Delegate Kim Taylor serves Virginia’s 82nd House District. A lifelong Virginian, she is also a small business owner residing in Dinwiddie with her husband Butch.
