The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has started work to replace aging sewer service laterals along Forest Hill Avenue. The project covers the stretch between Hathaway Road and Joe Brooks Boulevard, with the current work zone running from Windsorview Drive to Shelia Lane.

This effort follows a previous phase completed in 2024, which addressed the eastbound lanes of Forest Hill Avenue. The ongoing replacement is part of a broader plan to improve local utility infrastructure.

According to the DPU, these upgrades are necessary due to deterioration in the existing sewer lines. Residents and commuters can expect continued construction activity as the department works to update this section of the city’s sanitary sewer system.
