The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on May 26 that Hallie Muniz, Lydia Shields, Sydney Phillips, and Molly Wise from Richmond were among the student-athletes honored with postseason awards for outdoor track and field. The conference recognized a total of 37 student-athletes on the Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Rookie Team, while 21 received All-Academic honors.
Shields and Phillips earned all-rookie honors. This recognition is given to student-athletes who achieved the fastest times or top marks in their respective events from the start of the season through the Atlantic 10 Championship. Shields recorded a time of 36:33.93 in the 10,000 meters, while Phillips posted a mark of 12.05 meters in the triple jump.
Muniz and Wise were named to the all-academic team, which recognizes sophomores or higher who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Muniz is an accounting major who earned silver medals in both the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:31.75 and in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.47 at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
Wise, who majors in psychology, won her third consecutive outdoor championship long jump title this season by capturing gold with a mark of 6.10 meters at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
The awards highlight both athletic performance during competition as well as academic achievement throughout the year.
