VCU baseball lost to George Washington University 9-3 in the Atlantic 10 series finale on April 19 at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia. The defeat allowed the Revolutionaries to sweep the Rams over the weekend.

This loss marked VCU’s first Atlantic 10 series defeat at home this season. The Rams now hold a record of 22 wins and 17 losses overall, with an 11-7 mark in conference play. George Washington improved its record to 16-22 overall and an even 9-9 in conference games.

Nick Frers pitched four innings for VCU, facing just fourteen batters while striking out four and allowing only two hits without issuing any walks. Despite his effort, George Washington built an early eight-run lead by scoring in each of the first four innings before VCU responded with a run-scoring single from Trent Adelman in the fourth inning.

Alec Warden and Adelman each collected two hits for VCU, with Adelman driving in two runs. Quinn Maher reached base three times through two walks and a hit by pitch. Jacob Lee added another run-scoring hit as VCU narrowed the gap to five runs by the seventh inning. However, after a pitching change prompted by a delay, George Washington scored once more in the eighth inning to secure their victory.

The Rams committed two errors during Sunday’s game and were outhit by George Washington twelve to five.

Looking ahead, VCU is set to host Virginia Tech on Tuesday, April 21 for their second meeting this season. Tickets are available online and fans can watch live coverage on ESPN+.
