Henrico County Government announced a series of updates regarding environmental initiatives and county land management in a set of tweets posted on August 26, 2025.
In its first tweet, the county outlined the formation of the SRAC, stating, “SRAC will facilitate community input & will advise the Board on a range of environmental issues. It initially will be comprised of county staff who serve on Henrico’s Environmental Action Resource Team, HEART: https://t.co/cUPW3gedRH.” This group is intended to serve as an advisory body for the Board and is initially staffed by members from HEART.
A follow-up tweet directed residents to further resources: “More information about Henrico’s sustainability efforts is available at https://t.co/iOBCHBc36G.”
Later that evening, Henrico County Government provided an update on land management following a recent public hearing: “Following a public hearing, the Board has approved a resolution for a quitclaim deed, releasing county interest in a utility easement at 5701 Eastport Blvd. A replacement easement has been conveyed to the county.”
Henrico County operates within a broader context of significant educational activity. The only school district in Henrico County enrolled more than 50,000 students during the 2023-24 school year, with Deep Run High School recording the highest enrollment among local schools. Black students represented the largest ethnic group within these schools, making up over one-third of total enrollment. Overall student numbers have shown slight growth compared to previous years. Holladay Elementary School led pre-kindergarten enrollments across the county.
These developments reflect ongoing efforts by Henrico County Government to address both environmental and administrative matters while operating in an area marked by diverse and growing educational needs.
