Henrico County Government shared updates on community development, land conservation, and senior recognition in a series of posts on August 7, 2025.

In the first post at 12:00 UTC, Henrico County Government announced plans for a new neighborhood park near Maybeury Elementary School and Tuckahoe Family YMCA. The message included a statement from Tuckahoe District Supervisor Jody Rogish: “We care about what you want in this community,” delivered during a community celebration.

Later that day at 20:54 UTC, the county highlighted its ongoing commitment to land preservation. The post read: “Land conservation has been a theme in Varina since Henrico’s 1979 purchase of a dairy farm that became Dorey Park. Now, 6,000+ acres east of Route 895 & south of Charles City Rd have been protected from development through the county’s efforts.”

At 23:32 UTC, Henrico County Government invited residents to recognize centenarians within the community. The post stated: “If you know someone in our community who is 100 or older, the @Henrico County, VA – Aging Service would love to honor them at this year’s Centenarian Celebration on Monday, Sept 22.”

Henrico County is home to one public school district serving over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). Deep Run High School reported the highest enrollment among local schools with more than two thousand students (source). Demographically, Black students made up the largest group in county schools last year at nearly thirty-six percent of total enrollment (source).
