Henrico County Government announced a series of board-approved initiatives on July 22, 2025, including the acquisition of land for a new public park and the awarding of a contract for improvements to local water infrastructure.
According to a post made at 23:50 UTC, “The Board has approved a resolution for the acquisition of about 6 acres for $2.9M at 9301 Patterson Ave. The county plans to use the property as a public park.”
Shortly after, another update was posted at 23:51 UTC stating, “Following the Board’s vote, the county has awarded a $2.26M fixed-price contract for improvements to the Shady Grove water pump station. The project will include installation of new pumps, pipes, valves and mechanical & electrical equipment.”
A third post clarified the project timeline at 23:51 UTC: “Work is expected to begin in October and be completed in about 19 months.”
Henrico County is home to one public school district that enrolled over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year, reflecting steady growth in its population (source). Deep Run High School recorded the highest enrollment among local schools with more than 2,000 students during that period (source). Demographically, Black students represented nearly 36% of total enrollment in Henrico County schools in 2023-24 (source).
