Henrico County Government announced on August 13, 2025, that the Board of Supervisors approved several measures during its recent meeting, including expansions to investment and housing programs and the release of a county easement.
In a post made on August 13, 2025, Henrico County Government stated, “The Board approved an ordinance to expand the Henrico Investment Program, which promotes reinvestment in designated areas. New areas are along Laburnum Ave, Lakeside Ave, Nine Mile Rd and Brook Road.”
On the same day, the county also reported changes related to affordable housing: “The Board approved an ordinance to clarify that fee waivers are available for all for-sale housing developments that meet the criteria for an affordable housing development. It also sets fee-waiver standards for developments using the community land trust model.”
Additionally, another resolution was passed regarding property rights: “The Board approved a resolution for a quitclaim deed to release any county interest in a temporary construction easement at 1802 Carneal St.”
Henrico County is home to one public school district serving over 50,000 students during the 2023-24 academic year (source). The student population is diverse; Black students represented about 35.7% of enrollment while white students accounted for nearly 32% (source). The district saw a slight increase in total enrollment compared to the previous year (source).
These recent actions by Henrico County’s Board reflect ongoing efforts to support economic development and address affordable housing needs within a growing and diverse community.
