Henrico County Government has recently shared a series of updates and announcements via social media. These posts provide details on upcoming events and initiatives, particularly focusing on fostering opportunities within the community.

On June 5, 2025, Henrico County Government announced an upcoming session scheduled for Wednesday, June 11. The session will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Fairfield Area Library located at 1401 N. Laburnum Ave. “The next session will be held on: DATE: Wednesday, June 11 TIME: 6-7 p.m. LOCATION: Fairfield Area Library, 1401 N. Laburnum Ave.”

In another post dated June 5, Henrico County expressed its need for families willing to care for children across various age groups. The county highlighted a particular demand for families who can accommodate children aged 12 and older, sibling groups, and young children who are unable to attend daycare facilities. “Henrico is looking for families to care for children of all ages, but currently has an especially significant need for families who can care for children 12 and older, sibling groups and young children who cannot attend day care.”

Further information was provided in a subsequent tweet from the same date regarding sessions led by representatives from Henrico County’s Department of Social Services. These sessions aim to cover eligibility requirements and resources available from both county and state levels for foster parents. They will also explore different methods through which families can open their homes to youth in foster care.“Representatives from Henrico County’s Department of Social Services will review eligibility requirements, resources that the county and state will provide to foster parents, the different ways families can open their homes for youth in foster care & more during the info sessions.”

Henrico County Public Schools District enrolled over fifty thousand students during the recent school year with Black students comprising the largest ethnic group among them.
