Henrico County Government has recently shared updates on local events and community initiatives through a series of tweets. These posts provide information on public meetings, recognize significant contributions to the community, and honor individuals for their dedication and service.
On June 12, 2025, Henrico County Government announced that “The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Varina Area Library, 1875 New Market Road.” The tweet also informed residents that they could participate in person or virtually via Webex and provided a link for more information.
In a post dated June 13, 2025, Henrico County Government highlighted the retirement of Jon Lugbill from his role as founding executive director of Sports Backers. The tweet stated, “For 32 years, Jon Lugbill has been a driving force for creating a community that’s physically active, healthy and well-connected.” It noted that Henrico is celebrating his vision and leadership across numerous events and initiatives.
On the same day, another tweet recognized the dedication of Jon Lugbill by naming Park Street in Lakeside as Honorary Jon Lugbill Drive. The announcement was made after Lugbill unveiled the street sign at Park and Lakeside Drive. The tweet read: “Park Street in Lakeside – by the Fall Line and Sports Backers’ headquarters – is now recognized as Honorary Jon Lugbill Drive.”
In related educational news within Henrico County Public Schools District during the 2023-24 school year, there were notable enrollment figures including Deep Run High School having the highest enrollment among high schools with 2,039 students.
