Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed issues related to contraception access and extreme weather events in a series of posts on July 16 and 17, 2025.
On July 16, McClellan stated, “Your ability to access the contraception that is right for you should not depend on where you live. The decision of when, whether and how to become a parent should be yours in consultation with your provider. Today, I joined @RepFletcher and @SenMarkey for a Shadow Hearing on https://t.co/FpcWhOIMX8”. She also shared a link to her full remarks: “Watch my full remarks here: https://t.co/t4EX9nEfmq”.
Later that day, she highlighted concerns about climate change and public health by writing, “This summer has been dominated by extreme weather events, which pose public health challenges. With our planet rapidly heating up, these challenges will only grow stronger. I led 32 of my colleagues to recognize the threat of extreme weather to children’s health and well-being,”.
Jennifer McClellan began serving in Congress after replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. She previously held seats in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972, McClellan currently resides in Richmond. She holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and the University of Virginia (JD).
