Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, has been active on social media addressing a range of issues from religious celebrations to pressing legislative matters. With a background in law and extensive political experience, McClellan continues to engage with her constituents through platforms like Twitter.
On June 6, 2025, Congresswoman McClellan extended her well wishes for the celebration of Eid al-Fitr by tweeting “Eid Mubarak! Wishing peace and reflection for all those who celebrate.”
The following day, June 7, she marked National Gun Violence Awareness Day by wearing orange and emphasizing the need for actionable measures against gun violence. She tweeted “Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. I wear orange as a reminder that we need more than just thoughts and prayers to tackle this public health crisis and end gun violence now. We need common sense solutions to end gun violence and address its underlying causes.”
Later on June 7, McClellan reflected on her recent activities in Congress after returning from recess. She mentioned legislative challenges being addressed in both the Senate and House, stating “I spent the first part of this week in the district before Congress returned from recess. The Senate began dealing with the Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill and the House began grappling with Trump’s latest proposed budget cuts.”
Jennifer McClellan has served in Congress since replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. Prior to this role, she was part of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and also served in the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, she holds degrees from both the University of Richmond and the University of Virginia.
