Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently took to social media to address a range of topics including education and healthcare. McClellan, who has served since 2023 after replacing Donald McEachin, shared her thoughts on the Class of 2025 from Reynolds College and expressed concerns over proposed Republican funding cuts to Medicaid.
On May 13, 2025, Congresswoman McClellan congratulated the graduating class from Reynolds College. She wrote: “Congratulations to the @ReynoldsCollege Class of 2025! “.
Later that day, she addressed healthcare issues via Twitter. In a post at 20:56 UTC on May 13, she stated her position on Medicaid funding cuts: “I stand with @EnergyCommerce and the millions of Americans who support Medicaid. Republicans’ funding bill would kick at least 13.7 million people off their health insurance, close hospitals and cut health care funding. We know just how devastating this would be.”
In another tweet posted at nearly the same time on May 13, McClellan directed followers to watch her full opening statement regarding these issues by sharing a link: “Watch my full opening statement here:”.
Jennifer McClellan was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Richmond. She graduated from the University of Richmond with a BA in 1994 and earned a JD from the University of Virginia in 1997.
