Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used her Twitter account on May 19 and 20, 2026, to highlight concerns over local housing conditions in Petersburg and ongoing debates regarding mifepristone access.

On May 19, McClellan addressed issues faced by residents of the Carriage House complex: “Carriage House residents suffered deplorable living conditions with little to no recourse until the City of Petersburg deemed the complex uninhabitable. Then the property managers left residents in the dark about when and how to evacuate. @lashrecseaird, @kimadamsforva and I https://t.co/8EAJSgCaLx”. In a follow-up post on the same day, she urged readers to review more information: “Read the letter and learn more here: https://t.co/WlYoLFxmxu”.

The following day, McClellan commented on mifepristone’s use for reproductive health care: “For over 25 years, physicians have prescribed mifepristone to safely manage miscarriages and allow patients to decide on their own terms when, whether and how to become a parent. Mifepristone saves lives. Louisiana Republicans have asked the majority-conservative Supreme Court”.

Jennifer McClellan began representing Virginia’s 4th District in Congress in 2023 after serving in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and later in the Virginia Senate. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Richmond. McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond (BA) and earned her law degree from the University of Virginia.
