Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, has taken to social media to discuss critical issues related to Medicaid and environmental programs. Her recent posts address concerns about proposed budget cuts and their potential impact on healthcare access and environmental initiatives.
On May 21, 2025, McClellan shared Gloria’s Medicaid story on the House floor. She highlighted that “access to Medicaid saved her life, along with hundreds of thousands of Virginians.” McClellan expressed concern that the “Republican’s big ugly budget bill now threatens their access to care by making it harder for eligible people to stay on Medicaid.”
Later that day, McClellan criticized the Trump Administration’s funding freezes, stating they have led to a “gutting of the federal workforce” and proposed budget cuts. These actions shift more responsibility onto states already struggling to implement essential environmental programs. She mentioned joining @EnergyCommerce Democrats in addressing these challenges.
In a subsequent post at the same time, she provided a link inviting followers to watch her full remarks online.
Jennifer McClellan has served in Congress since replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. Born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972, she holds degrees from the University of Richmond and the University of Virginia.
