Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her activities and community engagement through a series of posts on March 13, 2026.
In a post from March 13, McClellan expressed sympathy for the family of a recent shooting victim at Old Dominion University and acknowledged the actions of ROTC students. She wrote, “I send condolences to the family and loved ones of Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, who was killed in the horrific shooting at Old Dominion University yesterday, and gratitude to the brave ROTC students who acted quickly to prevent further loss of life.
I stand with the ODU community as” (March 13, 2026).
Later that day, she described a visit to an academic research facility: “This week, I toured the @VCU Rice Rivers Center, where its leadership seeks to support scholarship and student success — from research into soil carbon sequestration, to water quality monitoring in the tidal freshwater segment of the James River Estuary, to supporting community” (March 13, 2026).
McClellan also summarized her week during a congressional recess: “With the House in recess, I spent the week in the District meeting with local government leaders, constituents and educators.

Jennifer McClellan has represented Virginia’s 4th district since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. Before joining Congress, she served in both chambers of Virginia’s state legislature: first as a delegate from 2006 to 2017 and then as a senator. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and now residing in Richmond at age 50, McClellan holds degrees from both the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
