Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has been actively addressing key issues through her social media presence. McClellan, who took office in 2023 after serving in the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate, uses her platform to advocate for various causes affecting her constituents.
On June 9, 2025, McClellan highlighted the impact of gun violence on communities by stating that it “robs us of our loved ones, erodes our sense of security, and shortens too many bright futures.” She emphasized that “enough is enough” and shared her participation in the #WearOrange event organized by Everytown and Moms Demand Action in Richmond to advocate for preventive measures against gun violence.
Later that day, she turned her attention to public broadcasting’s role in society. In a tweet posted on June 9, she remarked that public broadcasting “strengthens our communities through trusted local, state, and national news,” as well as providing educational programming and emergency alert services. She noted its importance as often being “the only coverage of local and state government actions,” while expressing concern over proposed changes by former President Trump. On June 10, McClellan marked Men’s Health Month by discussing this year’s theme: Closing the Empathy Gap in Men’s Health. Her tweet emphasized the need to address unique health challenges faced by men and encouraged early detection and treatment efforts. She pointed out that “too many men die of preventable health” issues. More details are available here.
