Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has issued a series of announcements and calls to action on her official Twitter account regarding youth engagement and clean energy initiatives.
On August 19, 2025, McClellan invited local students to participate in her office’s advisory program: “Are you a high school student living or attending school in Virginia’s Fourth? Join my 2025-2026 Youth Advisory Council for a chance to learn from Team McClellan and meet with me!” The post was followed by another tweet providing further resources: “More information and application form here: https://t.co/DQFn1e9use”, also posted on August 19.
The next day, McClellan turned her attention to environmental issues. She criticized federal policies impacting renewable energy: “Affordable solar and clean energy are under attack by the Trump Administration, killing jobs and increasing energy bills in the process. Join me tomorrow at 12 PM for a press conference with Climate Action Virginia, VALCV, @TeamFreedomVA and @Ibew666 to demand affordable solar”. This message was posted on August 20, 2025.
Jennifer McClellan has represented Virginia’s 4th District since replacing Donald McEachin in Congress in 2023. She previously served in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972, she currently resides in Richmond. Her academic background includes a BA from the University of Richmond (1994) and a JD from the University of Virginia (1997).
