Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media regarding U.S. policy toward the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
On July 26, 2025, McClellan wrote, “Following the Biden-Harris Administration’s success in reaching a ceasefire agreement, the Trump Administration has utterly failed to meet this critical moment and secure a similar deal between Israel and Hamas. By walking away from negotiations and shifting focus to unnamed”. In another post made on the same day, she stated, “I have joined my colleagues in the House to urge the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and will continue to advocate for further relief to innocent civilians.” McClellan further urged action by writing, “I urge the Trump Administration to use every tool at its disposal to reach a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that releases the hostages, delivers desperately needed aid into Gaza, and develops a two-state solution that will allow both parties to coexist with dignity”.
Jennifer McClellan began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Donald McEachin as representative for Virginia’s 4th district. She previously served in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and in the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972, McClellan currently resides in Richmond. She holds a BA from the University of Richmond (1994) and earned her JD from the University of Virginia in 1997.
