Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, has shared a series of tweets regarding the Senate version of a controversial bill. These posts were made on July 3, 2025, and they reflect her critical stance on the legislation and its implications.

In her first tweet posted at 01:20:47 UTC, Congresswoman McClellan drew attention to a summary of the Senate’s version of what she refers to as the “Big Ugly Bill.” She provided a link for further information, inviting her followers to review the contents of this legislative proposal.

Later that morning at 11:24:52 UTC, she highlighted that while many were asleep, the House began debating this bill early in the morning. She criticized the timing and questioned why proponents would conduct such discussions in secrecy if they truly supported adding $3.5 trillion to the deficit. Additionally, she pointed out that the bill could potentially strip health insurance and food assistance from millions.

Jennifer McClellan is an experienced politician with deep roots in Virginia politics. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond, she holds degrees from both the University of Richmond and University of Virginia School of Law. Her political career includes serving in both houses of Virginia’s legislature before assuming her current role in Congress.
