Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform on February 3, 2026, to express concerns about the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its enforcement agencies.
In a post made at 18:07 UTC, McClellan stated, “The Department of Homeland Security is out of control. ICE and Border Patrol are abducting, intimidating and killing people with impunity. The American people have had enough. I joined Sunrise on @thehill to discuss the need for DHS reforms and more.”
Later that day at 19:18 UTC, she shared her recent legislative actions regarding DHS funding: “Two weeks ago, I voted against funding DHS without significant reforms to address the public safety crisis created by the Trump Administration and its Congressional Republican enablers. Today, I again voted no. Here’s why “
In a follow-up post at 19:19 UTC, McClellan elaborated on her stance toward current immigration enforcement tactics: “Since the House last passed a Department of Homeland Security funding bill, we have only seen greater strife, confusion and fear resulting from the Trump Administration’s overly aggressive immigration enforcement tactics. Masked agents continue to break into homes. ICE continues”
Jennifer McClellan has represented Virginia’s 4th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond, McClellan holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
