Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, raised concerns last week over recent actions in the House of Representatives and immigration enforcement policies.
On July 28, McClellan posted on her official account that “Last week was supposed to be a busy week in Washington as the House wrapped up for the August recess. Instead, Speaker Mike Johnson sent the House home early to avoid a vote on whether the Trump Administration must release the Jeffrey Epstein files.”
Later that day, she addressed immigration enforcement by stating “In its aggressive and dehumanizing immigration crackdown, the Trump Administration has wrongfully detained or deported lawful permanent residents and U.S. citizens — but we don’t know how many. Amidst ongoing ICE raids in VA-04, I visited the Chesterfield County Courthouse today https://t.co/ZyDFaOBGio”.
She also shared information about proposed legislation: “Read more about the DHS Wrongful Detention and Deportation Accountability Act here: https://t.co/nbcr3SD3C6”.
Jennifer McClellan has represented Virginia’s 4th District since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. She previously served both in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and in the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972, McClellan resides in Richmond and holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
