Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative actions. Her posts reflect her stance against a controversial bill and its implications for the American public.
On July 3, 2025, McClellan noted “I just watched @RepJeffries break the record for the longest House floor speech as he made the case for just how bad the Big Ugly Bill is for the American people.” She expressed determination despite potential setbacks, stating that while “@HouseDemocrats may lose this battle,” they will continue to fight.
Later that day, she criticized House Republicans’ recent legislative action. According to her post “Today, House Republicans passed a cruel and immoral tax and budget scheme that prioritizes billionaires over working people and puts the health, safety, and economic security of Virginians at risk.”
In another tweet from July 3rd she added, “Their ‘One Big Ugly Bill’ to enact President Trump’s agenda is not just unpopular — it’s one of the largest transfers of wealth from the poor and middle class to the ultra-rich in U.S. history.” She highlighted that this shift burdens “the bottom-earning 80 percent of Americans paying for tax cuts for the wealthiest.”
Jennifer McClellan has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. Prior to her current role, she was a member of both Virginia’s House of Delegates and Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972, she resides in Richmond and holds degrees from both University of Richmond and University of Virginia.
