Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district, has recently voiced her concerns on social media regarding the fiscal policies and trade measures enacted by the Trump Administration. Her statements address issues ranging from national debt to tariffs affecting local agriculture.

On March 5, 2025, McClellan criticized President Trump and congressional Republicans for promoting substantial reductions in social safety net programs under the guise of fiscal responsibility. She pointed out that these actions occur while simultaneously increasing the national debt through tax cuts for billionaires. “Yet President Trump and congressional Republicans continue promoting steep cuts to crucial social safety net programs in the name of fiscal responsibility — while adding trillions of dollars to our national debt to provide tax cuts to billionaires.”

Later that day, McClellan addressed the impact of the Trump Administration’s tariffs on Mexico and Canada. She emphasized that these tariffs would significantly harm Virginia’s family farmers and agricultural sector. McClellan stated her leadership role within the Virginia Democratic delegation in urging a revision or revocation of these tariffs. “The Trump Administration’s 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada will have a devastating impact on Virginia’s family farmers and agricultural sector. I led the Virginia Democratic delegation to demand that the Administration revise or revoke these tariffs.”

In a subsequent tweet, she provided a link for readers to access further details about her stance on this issue. “Read the full release here https://t.co/Nyq3HIGoX3”
