In her first post, McClellan expressed concern regarding the claims by House Republicans to lower living costs. She stated that instead of improving the cost of living, “amidst a background of staggering tariffs and depleted savings, they’re actively making things harder for people already struggling to get by.” McClellan questioned the potential impact of what she described as “the largest Medicaid cut in American” history.
Later the same day, McClellan highlighted the passage of the SAVE Act by House Republicans as a measure that could “usher in a new era of voter suppression.” She outlined the potential implications of the SAVE Act for federal elections, suggesting significant changes to voting regulations in the future.
Further elaborating on the SAVE Act, McClellan noted the financial barriers associated with its requirements, stating, “The SAVE Act requires proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections — but nearly all accepted forms of ID cost money.” She shared cost details specific to Virginia and reflected on national pricing, remarking that costs “can go up to $130 for a passport” or higher.
