Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed economic and humanitarian concerns in a series of posts on July 26, 2025.
In her first post, McClellan wrote: “Trump’s policies are impacting Virginia’s economy. Tariff wars have increased costs. Federal workforce cuts have increased unemployment. The Big Ugly Bill is blowing holes in state and local budgets.
I joined @lauraingle on @NewsNation to discuss this and more.” (July 26, 2025). She provided a link to watch the full interview in a subsequent tweet: “Watch the full interview here:

Later that day, McClellan commented on the humanitarian situation in Gaza: “Every day, death and mass starvation take a greater toll on the people of Gaza. They face a humanitarian crisis that has cost thousands of lives and prolongs suffering in the region.
This crisis is reaching an inflection point and deserves swift, immediate and continued action” (July 26, 2025).
McClellan has served as the representative for Virginia’s 4th district since replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972, McClellan resides in Richmond and holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
