Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on her official social media account covering topics from local history to the current legislative calendar.
On July 21, 2025, McClellan shared a link to an interview, inviting followers to “Watch the full interview here: https://t.co/e59KPS5Hmn”.
The following day, she highlighted the historical significance of the James River Park System. In her post dated July 22, 2025, McClellan wrote: “Founded in 1972 through a combination of land donations, the James River Park System has 300+ acres of land with trails and water access. It includes Manchester Dock, which was once a port in the slave trade that made Richmond the largest source of enslaved Africans on the east https://t.co/6aixOSOr3E”.
Later that same day, she addressed looming legislative deadlines in Congress: “Counting today, the House only has 17 scheduled legislative days to pass 12 appropriations bills to fund the government before the new fiscal year begins at midnight on October 1st. Once again, the Hill is abuzz with the question of whether we will avoid a government shutdown”.
McClellan has served as Virginia’s 4th District representative since replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both the Virginia House of Delegates and State Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and now residing in Richmond, McClellan holds degrees from both the University of Richmond and University of Virginia.
