Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, recently shared her insights on historical and contemporary issues through a series of tweets. Her reflections cover significant judicial decisions, local community engagements, and environmental concerns.
On June 7, 2025, McClellan commemorated the sixtieth anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Griswold v. Connecticut decision. She noted its importance by stating “Sixty years ago today, the Supreme Court’s landmark Griswold v. Connecticut decision recognized a fundamental constitutional right to privacy and struck down a Connecticut law banning access to contraception on those grounds.” She emphasized that current rights to privacy and contraception remain crucial.
The following day, June 8, McClellan expressed her pleasure in reconnecting with constituents during an event in Charles City County. She mentioned her participation at Delegate Delores McQuinn’s Annual Coffee, Donuts and Conversation event by tweeting “Good to be back in Charles City County to give an update on what’s happening in Washington at Delegate @DeloresMcquinn’s Annual Coffee, Donuts and Conversation event.”
Later on June 8, McClellan highlighted National Ocean Month as a time for reflection on the ocean’s critical role across various sectors. In light of World Oceans Day, she tweeted about environmental challenges: “June is National Ocean Month… The climate crisis presents the greatest threat ever to ocean health.” She urged renewed efforts towards ocean conservation.
Jennifer McClellan has been active in U.S. Congress since succeeding Donald McEachin in 2023. Prior to this role, she served from 2006-2017 in the Virginia House of Delegates and then continued her political career in the Virginia Senate.
