Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, has been vocal on several issues through her recent social media posts. Her focus spans from economic analyses to environmental protection and workforce capacity within the Department of Energy.

On June 4, 2025, Congresswoman McClellan shared a link to the latest Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis. She encouraged her followers to “See the latest CBO analysis”, highlighting her engagement with fiscal assessments that influence legislative decision-making.

The following day, June 5, 2025, she marked World Environment Day by addressing environmental concerns. In her post, McClellan stated: “Today is World Environment Day, a time to raise awareness on the continuing necessity to protect our environment.” As a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, she expressed opposition to what she described as efforts by the Trump Administration to undermine environmental protections and climate action progress.

Later that day, McClellan turned her attention towards staffing issues at the Department of Energy. She criticized House Republicans for their approach in handling departmental responsibilities. In her tweet, she noted: “House Republicans want to dump more work onto the Department of Energy while their funding bills and DOGE gut the workforce necessary…” She announced introducing an amendment aimed at ensuring that the Department of Energy retains sufficient capacity to manage its tasks effectively.

Jennifer McClellan was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Richmond. With a background in law from both the University of Richmond and University of Virginia, she has served in various political roles including terms in both chambers of Virginia’s legislature before succeeding Donald McEachin in Congress.
