Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed constituents through social media posts about ongoing policy debates and recent economic developments.

On August 7, 2025, McClellan shared details of her appearance on a community talk show: “I sat down with Becky Lakin on Many Hands Live for a community conversation on the Big Ugly Bill’s Medicaid and SNAP cuts and what keeps me going amidst the chaos in Congress. Later that day, McClellan commented on recent tariff policies implemented by the Trump Administration. On August 7, 2025, she wrote: “Last night, the Trump Administration implemented the highest global tariffs since the Great Depression — some as high as 50%. Very few countries were spared. What does this mean for you? As businesses have to pay more for imports, costs will go up on everything from coffee to https://t.co/cEqc8L6GFg”.

Jennifer McClellan began serving Virginia’s 4th congressional district in 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. She previously held positions in both the Virginia House of Delegates (2006–2017) and Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond, McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond (BA) and holds a JD from the University of Virginia.
