Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who has represented Virginia’s 4th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently addressed several key legislative and judicial developments through her social media posts. McClellan, a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate, continues to focus on telecommunications policy and education issues.

On July 15, 2025, McClellan commented on the role of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), stating that “The National Telecommunications and Information Administration helps protect our vulnerable telecommunications industry from new challenges — but in a rapidly changing technological landscape, we risk falling behind. Today the House passed my bill with @JayObernolte to equip”. This statement highlights recent legislative efforts to address emerging threats within the telecommunications sector.

Later that day, she shared a link to her full remarks regarding this legislation: “Watch my full remarks here:” (posted July 15, 2025).

In another post on July 15, 2025, McClellan addressed a Supreme Court decision affecting federal employment at the Department of Education. She wrote: “SCOTUS has let the Trump Administration proceed with mass layoffs at the Department of Education. These employees fill gaps left by state and local governments to ensure all students have what they need to succeed. Students — especially those with disabilities — will inevitably”. Her comments underscore concerns about potential impacts on educational support services for students.

Jennifer McClellan was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Richmond. She graduated from the University of Richmond with a BA in 1994 and earned her JD from the University of Virginia in 1997.
