Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, shared several tweets on April 28, 2025, highlighting issues related to life sciences investments in Virginia and concerns over nursing home care.
On April 28, McClellan highlighted Virginia’s thriving life sciences industry, noting the significance of federal investments in the National Institutes of Health. “Virginia has a thriving life sciences industry that benefits from federal investments in the National Institutes of Health. These investments save lives, as Virginia institutions like VCU, UVA, and Virginia Tech lead the way on research into cancer, heart disease, maternal health,” she stated.
Later in the day, she expressed concerns regarding the quality of care in nursing homes. McClellan tweeted, “Both federal and state authorities must ensure nursing home patients get the quality care they deserve. Disturbing reports about conditions at the Colonial Heights Rehabilitation Center demand answers.” Accompanying the tweet was a call to action to read her letter addressing these concerns.
Jennifer McClellan, born in Petersburg, Virginia, has been serving in her current congressional role since 2023, succeeding Donald McEachin. She has an extensive background in Virginia’s state legislature, having served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate. McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia.
