Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight her legislative efforts and address rising concerns over transportation affordability.
On May 15, McClellan shared a link to an exclusive article by USA Today reporter Jessica Guynn, writing, “Read more in this @USATODAY exclusive by @jguynn here: https://t.co/QZ6A4C6P4D”.
The following day, she addressed the impact of increasing fuel prices on American households and emphasized the need for improved rail infrastructure. On May 16, she posted, “We must continue expanding passenger rail, especially as skyrocketing fuel prices strain our overly car-dependent society and make life increasingly unaffordable.
This week, I introduced the Amtrak Grant Flexibility Act with @RepDeluzio to open the door to billions of dollars in https://t.co/ADHTSsrUuU”. In a subsequent tweet that same day, she added, “Read more about my bill here: https://t.co/iy5LSS3cYi”.
Jennifer McClellan has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. Before her tenure in Washington, she was a member of both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and now residing in Richmond at age 50, McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond (BA) and holds a JD from the University of Virginia.
