Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared updates and remarks on her social media regarding the state of agriculture in Virginia and concerns voiced by local farmers.
On April 30, 2026, McClellan posted a link to her full remarks with the House Committee on Energy and Commerce: “Watch my full remarks here with @EnergyCommerce: https://t.co/cpisjvZzxT”.
Later that day, she highlighted the significance of agriculture in Virginia, stating: “As the number one private industry in the Commonwealth, Virginia boasts a flourishing agricultural sector. We rely heavily on our farms, 90% of which are family-owned, to keep families fed and ensure our local economies and communities thrive. Here’s why the Republican Farm Bill”.
In a subsequent post dated April 30, 2026, McClellan discussed concerns she has heard from farmers since taking office: “Since coming to Congress, I’ve met with farmers all across my district to hear their concerns for the future, where they’ve expressed anxiety over their finances, upended by rising costs and an economic crisis caused by the Trump Administration’s senseless tariff war.”
Jennifer McClellan has served as U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 4th District since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. She previously held positions in both the Virginia House of Delegates (2006-2017) and State Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond at age 50, McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
