Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to highlight the role of federal workers and discuss the ongoing government shutdown.

On October 10, 2025, McClellan wrote: “Our federal workers are not faceless bureaucrats. They are the people who ensure our water is safe to drink and the air is clean to breathe. They’re the ones who defend and uphold the civil rights of our young students. Their dedicated service improves our lives.

In Virginia,”

The following day, on October 11, she addressed current political developments: “We’re 10 days into the Republican government shutdown as the clock runs out on enhanced ACA premium tax credits. Here’s what you may have missed this week. https://t.co/pFhLXhp2KL”

On October 12, McClellan posted a link without additional commentary: “https://t.co/ybapdcp2Hc”

Jennifer McClellan began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Donald McEachin as representative for Virginia’s 4th district. She previously served in both chambers of Virginia’s legislature—the House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and later in the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond, McClellan holds a BA from the University of Richmond (1994) and a JD from the University of Virginia (1997).
