Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who has represented Virginia’s 4th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently addressed concerns regarding proposed Medicaid cuts and their potential impact on healthcare in rural communities. McClellan, who succeeded Donald McEachin and previously served in both the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate, highlighted these issues through a series of posts on July 10, 2025.
In her first post, McClellan stated that “Medicaid cuts will devastate our health care system, especially in rural communities. Today, I joined @SEIUVA512, @ProtectCareVA and @ctphealthcare to sound the alarm on the impact Medicaid cuts will have on Virginia.” This tweet was published on July 10, 2025.
She followed this with an invitation for constituents to view more details about the issue by posting a link to a press conference: “Watch the full press conference here: https://t.co/iI5HadT8bs”. This message was also posted on July 10, 2025.
Later that day, McClellan reiterated her call to watch the press conference with another link: “Watch the full press conference here: https://t.co/1NVmBwSc8B”, again emphasizing transparency around the Medicaid debate.
Jennifer McClellan was born in Petersburg, Virginia in 1972 and currently resides in Richmond. She graduated from the University of Richmond with a BA in 1994 and earned her JD from the University of Virginia in 1997.
