Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from local parks to national health care policy.
On July 18, McClellan posted about Parks and Recreation Month and highlighted a local site: “To commemorate Parks and Recreation Month and how we #BuildTogetherPlayTogether, today I highlight Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield County, the largest state park in Virginia. Established in 1946 with the help of the Civilian Conservation Corps, it hosts a museum dedicated”.
Later that day, she commented on recent Congressional activity: “This week, I opposed Congressional Republicans’ efforts to rubber stamp Trump’s extreme agenda and focused on solving problems facing our communities. Keep watching to see what you may have missed this week.”
On July 20, McClellan addressed new legislation affecting rural health care: “The Big Ugly Bill, now signed into law, will deal a significant blow to Virginia’s rural health care system and hospitals. In some cases, it may outright kill them. When I helped expand Medicaid in Virginia five years ago, one of the reasons that several Republican lawmakers got”.
Jennifer McClellan has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after replacing Donald McEachin. She previously held positions in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond at age 50, McClellan holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
