Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted on social media about her upcoming engagement with seniors in Chesterfield and commemorated a historic anniversary for the Virginia General Assembly.
On July 30, 2025, McClellan announced her participation in a conversation with seniors scheduled for that afternoon, stating: “Happening today at 1:30 PM! I look forward to having a conversation with seniors in Chesterfield and beyond, hearing your stories and answering your questions. Can’t make it? Later that day, McClellan marked the anniversary of the Virginia General Assembly’s founding by writing: “Happy birthday to the oldest continuously serving legislative body in the Western Hemisphere! The Virginia General Assembly first met on this date in 1619 as the House of Burgesses in Jamestown. https://t.co/hCpSEHTdQJ” (July 30, 2025).
McClellan has served as U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 4th District since replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. Before joining Congress, she was a member of both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and later served in the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg, Virginia, in 1972, McClellan is currently based in Richmond. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and received her law degree from the University of Virginia.
