Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight issues ranging from veteran recognition to healthcare access and cancer prevention.

On October 17, 2025, McClellan reminded constituents of an upcoming deadline for a local honor: “One week remaining for Veteran of the Year nominations! Have a veteran in mind you’d like to see recognized for their service? Send your submissions in by next Friday, September 24 using the link below https://t.co/f2LFuKaRxJ”.

Later that day, she addressed ongoing debates over reproductive rights and healthcare policy. In a post on October 17, 2025, McClellan stated: “The decision about whether, when and how to start a family should be left to patients and their providers — yet Republicans keep trying to insert themselves into that decision. Now, they’re gutting the ACA and access to contraception. Today, I joined @AFContraception and https://t.co/WOWtCTp5C3”.

That evening, she also emphasized preventive health measures during National Mammography Day: “Mammograms save lives by ensuring early detection. This #NationalMammographyDay, schedule your mammogram and be aware of the warning signs of breast cancer. https://t.co/BOs7JKIowP”.

McClellan has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin as representative for Virginia’s 4th District. She previously held seats in both the Virginia House of Delegates (2006–2017) and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and now residing in Richmond at age 50, McClellan holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
