Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted key issues affecting her constituents through a series of posts on social media.
On August 14, 2025, McClellan recognized Social Security’s anniversary by stating, “Created as part of the New Deal in response to the Great Depression, Social Security has provided a safety net for seniors, people with disabilities and families for 90 years. On this #SaveSocialSecurityDayOfAction, I joined @AARPVa to celebrate Social Security’s 90th birthday”.
Later that evening, she addressed healthcare access in rural communities. In a post dated August 14, 2025, McClellan wrote: “Rural communities struggle to access quality rehabilitation services and long-term care. Today, I visited the Waverly Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center to discuss how the Big Ugly Law’s Medicaid cuts could make it much harder to attract staff and provide care in rural Virginia.”
On August 15, 2025, McClellan acknowledged her office’s interns with another message: “Team McClellan’s work to serve the people of Virginia’s Fourth District wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible interns! Best wishes to our Summer 2025 class as you head off to your next adventure. We’re rooting for you!”
Jennifer McClellan began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Donald McEachin as representative for Virginia’s 4th district. She previously served in both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond, McClellan is an alumna of the University of Richmond and holds a law degree from the University of Virginia.
