Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who has been serving Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, has shared her recent activities and views on current political matters through social media this week. Consisting of updates on engagements with her constituency and comments on national issues, her posts provide insights into her priorities and concerns.

In a tweet dated April 19, 2025, McClellan highlighted her various activities throughout the week, including her participation in a viewer Q&A on “12 On Your Side,” celebrating Black Maternal Health Week, and meeting with her Youth Advisory Council. She encouraged the audience to remain engaged with her ongoing work. “During this week’s recess, I answered viewer questions on 12 On Your Side, celebrated Black Maternal Health Week, met with my Youth Advisory Council and more.”

Later that day, McClellan voiced criticism towards the appointment of Pete Hegseth, a contributor to Fox News, as the Secretary of Defense. She indicated disapproval, urging Hegseth to resign due to perceived inadequacies in his qualifications. “Turns out appointing a Fox News contributor to be the least qualified Secretary of Defense in America is going about how you would expect. Pete Hegseth should resign.”

On the same day, McClellan expressed her dismay concerning the Trump Administration’s actions related to Kilmar Abrego Garcia. She criticized the administration for not addressing what she describes as a “horrific mistake” and forewarned of the broad implications of such governmental errors. “The Trump Administration refuses to correct the horrific mistake they made and bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home. If it can happen to him, it can happen to you.”

Jennifer McClellan was born in Petersburg, Virginia, in 1972. She holds degrees from the University of Richmond and the University of Virginia. She replaced Donald McEachin in Congress in 2023 and has a decade-long history of service in Virginia state politics.
