Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who represents Virginia’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed concerns over federal cuts to Medicaid and SNAP programs through a series of posts on her official social media account.

On August 25, 2025, McClellan posted a link to an event with the message https://t.co/jlLc85DhEu. That same day, she invited constituents to join a livestream discussion about these issues: “Starting now! Want to listen in but haven’t RSVP’ed? Join the livestream at the link below https://t.co/tO3RwbQd0j”.

The following evening, on August 26, McClellan highlighted her opposition to recent legislative changes affecting social safety net programs: “Massive cuts to Medicaid and SNAP programs in the Big Ugly Law will not make America healthy again. But they will raise costs for millions who are already struggling to pay their bills.

Today, I joined @SenatorHashmi, @TCIFiscal, @vakids and impacted Richmonders to discuss the https://t.co/iMHTFWym5N“.

Jennifer McClellan has served as the representative for Virginia’s 4th District since 2023 after succeeding Donald McEachin. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of both the Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2017 and the Virginia Senate. Born in Petersburg in 1972 and currently residing in Richmond, McClellan holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and University of Virginia (JD).
