Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who has been representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, shared her concerns on social media regarding recent political and economic developments. Known for her advocacy in various social issues, McClellan expressed views on tariff policies and budgetary impacts affecting American citizens.

On May 23, 2025, Congresswoman McClellan addressed the issue of tariffs via Twitter. She commented on former President Donald Trump’s renewed threats to impose new tariffs on the European Union and Apple. In her post, she stated: “Trump’s back to threatening new tariffs on the European Union and Apple — sinking the stock market in the process.” She highlighted how “continued tariff uncertainty wreaks havoc on our economy and business planning and stability — especially for small businesses.”

In a subsequent tweet posted at nearly the same time, McClellan shared a link without additional commentary: https://t.co/zhXcF6Fr3T. The content of this link was not specified within the tweet.

Later that day, McClellan discussed a report from the Congressional Budget Office concerning potential impacts of a Republican budget bill. She tweeted: “The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office confirms what we already knew: under the Republican budget bill, millions more families, children, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities will go hungry.” This statement reflects her concern about increased food insecurity among vulnerable populations if such legislation were enacted.

Jennifer McClellan has served in U.S. Congress since replacing Donald McEachin in 2023. Prior to that role, she had an extensive career in state politics as part of both Virginia’s House of Delegates and Senate.
